We are the Ben L. Smith High School FIRST team. FIRST stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology" which is a non-profit organization that prepares thousands of high school students for a future in the fields of technology, science, and engineering.

The main objective for FIRST students is to maintain an orderly working environment while developing a remote-controlled robot that competes in an international competition with dynamic rules and regulations.

This year the Ben L. Smith High School Labcoats will maintain a partnership with North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Aside from strictly sponsoring us, this organization donates their time and energy to our team. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University sends engineers to Ben L. Smith High School to work together with BLS students to produce the robot. Students at A & T will help mentor existing team members.
